About the Author
Engaging in good conversation has always been a favorite pastime for the author. He enjoys listening to people talk. As a child, he enjoyed listening to his grandparents and great grandparents tell stories about their lives. His grandfather and great grandfather would take him for long walks throughout the city and spend time telling him stories about the old days. From that point forward, C.E. Rivas grew to appreciate when people trusted him enough to open up to him with their life stories. C.E. Rivas considers himself very fortunate to have had loving grandparents and great grandparents to raise him and instill in him, at an early age, the importance of education, respect, honesty, and the love for The Lord.
The author has a genuine compassion for children. Shortly after his military tour ended in Desert Shield/Desert Storm, he began teaching Karate to young children and teenagers instilling in them the value of education, respect and the love for their parents. While still earning a degree in literature, at Christopher Newport University, C.E. Rivas accepted the responsibility of raising his teenage brother, alone. Raising his brother was a tough challenge, but one that he endured successfully and happily. At the same time, he became a father to his now teenage daughter, Marisa.
